Lakeshore

Median 1-Bedroom Rent (Spring 2015): $2,450
Resting near the Pacific Ocean and along Lake Merced Boulevard, Lake Shore’s land is mostly devoted to parks and recreation with Lake Merced Park, the San Francisco Zoo, Olympic Club, and other golf courses. The residential area of Lake Shore is small, with just a few blocks of large homes built on quiet streets. A strip mall with a Lucky supermarket as its anchor delivers a rare sight, convenience, and many shopping options for residents. Stern Grove is within walking distance and offers free concerts throughout the summer, and Fort Funston is just on the other side of Lake Merced for those with dogs. The Lakeshore district also encompasses Merced Manor, Merced Heights, Stonestown, and Parkmerced neighborhoods. The wide streets of Merced Manor are lined with beautifully designed, well-groomed, and stately homes. The quiet neighborhood is perfect for families with children; there are several schools directly in the neighborhood, as well as endless recreation space with Lake Merced Park and Stern Grove within walking distance. Stonestown is just a short drive away for all of your shopping needs, and a strip mall with a Lucky supermarket delivers a rare sight and convenience for residents. Merced Heights is located in southern San Francisco near San Francisco State University, just off of Junipero Serra Boulevard. The small residential neighborhood is filled with modest sized homes that are architecturally similar to those in nearby Daly City. Merced Heights is popular among San Francisco State students who rent out many homes in the surrounding neighborhoods. Named after the popular mall the neighborhood is centered around, Stonestown hosts a large student population as it is home to San Francisco State University. The M-Ocean View services the neighborhood, bringing residents to and from the Embarcadero. The 280 is easily accessible and makes commuting into the city and South Bay fairly easy.
